When Elara found an old voicemail on her phone, she almost deleted it.
It was from a number she didn't recognize.
The message was only twelve seconds long.

“If you ever hear this, please tell my daughter I never stopped looking for her.”
Elara froze.
She had no idea who the man was.
But then he said a name.
“Maribel.”
That was her mother's name.
Elara had grown up believing her mother had been abandoned by her father.
Her mother never talked about him.
Whenever Elara asked, she only said:
“He chose not to stay.”
So Elara had stopped asking questions.

She called her mother.

Elara cried for hours.

They read them together.

She placed her father's letters inside.
Then she added a photograph of herself.
On the back, she wrote:
