After living in my apartment for three years, I found out it was going to be sold.
I accepted it and decided to move on peacefully.
As I packed my things, I remembered the small moments I had there morning sunlight, quiet evenings, and a sense of comfort.
On my last day, I cleaned the apartment very carefully. I made sure everything was neat and in good condition.
No one asked me to do it.
I just felt it was the right way to say goodbye.
The next morning, my phone rang.
It was my landlady.
At first, I felt nervous. I thought maybe I had forgotten something.
But when I answered, she thanked me warmly.
She said the apartment looked very clean and well cared for.
Then she asked me why I had worked so hard when no one was there to check everything.
I paused for a moment and then gave a simple answer.
I told her that how we treat places and people shows who we are.
Respect is not only for when someone is watching. It is something we should always have.
I said I cleaned the apartment because I was thankful for the time I spent there.
There was a short silence, but it felt meaningful.
Before ending the call, she told me something unexpected.
She said if I ever needed a place again, I should contact her first.
That moment stayed with me.
I realized that doing the right thing even when no one sees it can come back to you in good ways.
