She was cleaning out an old drawer when she found a hospital bracelet.
It had her mother’s date of birth.

Sienna's mother promised.

“Why?” Sienna asked.
Amelie looked at her.

Before Sienna left, Amelie handed her a small envelope.
“Your mother left this with me.”
Sienna opened it.

“Sienna, if you ever find out about Amelie, don't be angry that I kept it from you.”
“I wanted you to learn something from my life.”

Sienna pressed the note against her chest.
That evening, she returned home and placed the hospital bracelet beside her mother's photograph.
