Elowen found the voicemail while cleaning her old phone.
It was from a number she didn't recognize.
The message was only seventeen seconds long.
A man's voice whispered:
“If you ever hear this, please tell Mara I was looking for her.”
Elowen froze.
Mara was her grandmother's name.
But her grandmother had always said the same thing about the man Elowen's family never talked about.
“He left us.”
